I want to start blogging more about our process and the thought behind why and how we craft our wedding films. While out on a wedding shoot, we are always on the lookout for little wedding details. I want to preface this post by saying that the MOST important elements that make a wedding film beautiful are the couple and the audio we capture during the day. However, details can take average video and make it excellent! It’s often the overlooked things that are most important in telling your story. These are the two reasons why details are absolutely essential in our storytelling process.
- Details Create The Big Picture. Anything great is an accumulation of things that are small. When you see the immensity of the Grand Canyon, you are really seeing all of the smaller rocks, cracks, shrubs, colors, cliffs and ledges that make up the whole canyon. In a wedding, the naturally occurring details like colors, vows, guests, dresses, accessories, toasts, cake, etc., tell the larger story of who you are! That’s why we love to capture all of those little pieces. They help to tell your story!
- Details Carry Significance. Why show a close up of a ring in a film? The wedding ring is a symbol of a larger truth. It’s a symbol of the truth that marriage and love should never end, just like a ring has no end. A ring could also carry the significance of being the ring your grandmother or mother wore at her wedding. The unique design of the ring also could be unique to your personality or the personality of your relationship. Again, all of these little things tell small stories that make up the larger story of your film.
I’m passionate about paying attention to wedding details, because the stories that details tell are the ingredients used to craft a beautiful wedding film! Check out some of the details from this year below.
Cheers!
