After filming our first wedding of 2018 (S/O to Zach & Alyssa😊) we headed to WV to celebrate Mer’s dad’s 58th birthday! From there we traveled down to Holly Springs, NC just outside of Raleigh, NC to film the Mims House wedding venue tour!
We had only heard about and seen the Mims House wedding venue online, and we were so impressed! We quickly contacted the owners, Brooke and Priscilla, about wanting to feature them on our blog, and they said yes!
You can tell how much love has gone into this house to make what it is today. Each space was intentionally designed with the wedding party and guests in mind. From large outdoor spaces to entertain guests, to his and her getting ready and hanging out spaces. Brooke and Priscilla are wedding professionals and have truly thought of it all!
We asked them what sets this venue apart from others, and Priscilla responded:
“One of the extremely unique services we offer is our sister company, Mad Dash Weddings. Mad Dash is an all-inclusive option for the couple not wanting to spend a fortune on their wedding. They get to host their wedding at the Mims House but because the packages are based on guest count, it’s a fraction of the cost of a traditional wedding. Mad Dash weddings include all of the wedding vendors and completely eliminates the stress from planning a wedding.”
With the ability to host any wedding, at any budget this venue truly sets itself apart from any other! To hear more about the Mims House check out the Q&A we did below!
How did the Mims House get started as a wedding venue?
As members of the wedding industry for years prior to opening the Mims House, we worked together closely through our businesses Belle’s Catering and Orangerie Events. When the opportunity presented itself for us to combine our creativity and skillset to open Mims, we knew it would be the perfect project. We invested our personal finances, blood, sweat and tears to renovate and restore the Leslie-Alford-Mims House in order to create the stunning wedding venue it is today.
What’s one interesting fact about the Mims House?
The Mims House was built in 1840. It’s full of rich history and is one of the only buildings in Holly Springs that didn’t get burned down during the [Civil] war.
What is included when a client books at the Mims House?
We include access to the space from 9am until midnight as well as tables and chairs. Our facility includes bridal suites and a groom suite as well as an area for hair and makeup. We have on-site catering and coordination. We also allow the couple to use the property for a one-hour engagement or bridal portrait shoot prior to the wedding.
What is the best advice you can give to a bride?
The best advice we can give a bride is to not sweat the small stuff. Something is going to go array. Something will happen that wasn’t planned. It’s the reaction that matters. Stay focused on what the day is ultimately out and all of those small details won’t matter.
What do you love most about what you do?
We love seeing so many love stories unfold at a space we created. And through that process, we get to work with amazing clients and families. It really feels more like a home to use and each wedding weekend we welcome another set of friends in.
